Looking at the drawing, one can instantly describe this picture as it is presenting anger or an irritated mood. This picture reminded me of a moment described in The Black Cat by Poe when the narrator absorbed his pet’s behavior of irritation, moodiness into himself. Ever since, he started petting the irrational moods into him and whenever someone or something would bother his way of things, he would release his anger in an abusive way. This image makes me analyse that this person is on the last stage of holding his anger and about to take a serious action from his unconsciousness. As described in the story, the narrator murdered his wife because he was angry and irritated for some other reason (Poe). Despite his wife’s soft attitude toward him, he couldn’t tolerate being bothered and he killed his wife. A similar concept was also mentioned in Freud’s third lecture that people tend to have a displacement of their emotion when they release their irrational mood developed by some other reason.

This is a still from an Indian horror TV series called Aahat. While watching this show, I instantly remembered about The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. In her story she presented a wallpaper which was strange and mysterious to the narrator that eventually she started feeling the wallpaper’s liveliness and started counting it as a part of her everyday life (Gilman).  Similarly,  while looking at this painting from the still the TV show for a long time, it feels like the woman looks like an actual person sitting inside the painting with her mysterious smile, which indicates some type of enigmatic ideas or thoughts that are revolving in her mind and she is planning to turn them real. As for in the story, the narrator was strongly driven by the wallpaper’s mystery that was hung in her room which created some   unconsciousness in her mind and made her act like she was the one inside the wallpaper.

In the literary text of  Sonny’s blue, James Baldwin presented a character named Sonny who was seen to have a special affection for music. In this picture, it looks like the guy is playing music so passionately, because when we look at the background, his bed is pretty messy. Despite this, he sat down with his guitar rather than focusing on the things around him. Which can be analyzed as he needed a way to feel better, so he sat down with his guitar and tried to give him a good time.  Meanwhile, in the story, Sonny was having mental pressure from society and eventually got addicted to heroin. But later, he moved his focus on music from heroin, because music was his artistic gift as Freud described in his lecture that people use when they want to move their focus from something bad to something that’s socially acceptable( Freud). So this picture kind of reflects the character Sonny because they both are found to be attracted to music as a way of letting them to do what they like and is socially acceptable, where people wouldn’t make any negative comment on the things they choose to do.
